CCTV and Video Surveillance

Video surveillance is the observation of a specific zone using a video camera and a monitor in a self-contained video system.
In the simplest case, a video surveillance system consists of a camera and a monitor, which are connected to one another via a 75 Ohm video line. The following technical sub-areas are distinguished in professional video surveillance technology:

  • Image capture by the video camera

  • Image transmission via lines or radio links

  • Image distribution through camera distributors or video routers

  • Image reproduction through one or more monitors

  • Image recording by video recorder

  • Image evaluation
